Awesome story of the week and some that are horrible

Astonishing Tales Of Insanity: The 23-Mile Parachute Jump vs. Rocket Sled (Deadspin) with Gasoline

Questions?
Why in the hell did someone make a spatula with holes in it. There is always leftover food stuck after cooking breakfast.

I have found a new favorite.
Cheesy bacon waffle fries is a gratuitous master piece of North American culture food. Its half of the food pyramid, and its just appetizer.

How can people want to cut food stamps for people who are starving, but where cheering for the taxpayer financed bailout before they realized how many bonuses those "bailed out once thought to big to fail companies" where giving to their executives that screwed these companies up in the first place? Congratulations for scamming the taxpayers out of their hard earned money then convince them the government is trying to set regulations for how much you can earn.
What I Learned at the AIG Meltdown [Wall Street Journal]
There are four key points to bear in mind:

"One, the insurance policyholders at AIG were protected by reserves that each of the insurance companies are required to hold by state regulation
Two, the unregulated use of credit default swaps and other high-risk instruments by AIG Financial Products,...caused AIG to stumble and threatened the financial system.
Three, in September 2008 the Federal Reserve acted to protect the financial system from what it believed to be an imminent risk of catastrophic damage from AIG Financial Products.
Four, in November 2008, when the Fed restructured its AIG financing..the Fed had over $70 billion already at risk with AIG and was appropriately considering the value and operations of AIG's insurance companies....
The essential lesson of AIG, and of the broader crisis, is the need to reform financial regulation. And that reform should learn from state insurance regulation. One major cause of the subprime disaster was that those who originated mortgages and derivatives could sell them and not worry about their risk or capitalization."[Eric Dinallo Wall Street Journal]
And once again, politicians act like their angry, but they know who owns them. NEW York Times

California Still Sucks when it comes to a responsible government

In my grammatically incorrect analysis of the California budget problems on April 9, 2008. I expressed my views of California, and thoughts about their bond proposals to stop the state from falling apart.
Proposition 1D would redirect existing tobacco tax money from California’s First 5 Program to fund other state health and human services programs for the next five years
Proposition 1E is similar in nature to Proposition 1D. If approved, a large portion of funding from the Mental Health Services Act would be redirected to the state’s general fund to help pay for the Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment program

A recent article buy MSNBC states many interesting things
-"The citizens of California went to the polls and voted down all five of the ballot measures"
-state revenues running $8 billion below projections
-$16 billion in taxes for the next three, is gone, voted down by the voters.
-For next year the state is a whopping $21 billion short
-California's credit rating is the lowest of the 50 states (Lower than Michigan? That's horrible)

Some information about the Ballot initiatives
-Prop 1A is a stellar example all by itself of what's wrong with voter-run budgets. It would have raised $16 billion in taxes over four years while also requiring the state to store more of the money from years of surplus for the busts that eventually come.
Prop 1C....would have let the state raise $5 billion by selling off future lottery profits (about $1 billion a year)
-It's Prop 1B, though, that's the pièce de résistance. That one would have restored $9 billion in school funding that may (or may not, nobody is quite sure)

So once again, the sunshine state or whatever you call yourselves. PLEASE, DO NOT COME TO TEXAS. WE DONT WANT YOU HERE, SCREWING UP OUR CITIES. For all of these years you looked down on us Texas Folks, with our no state income tax, low cost of living, and multi climate state. Enjoy all the things you always boast about, the weather, the sun, opulence, and Prisons. This is what happens when you let an actor with no political experience run your government. The City of Angels is about to get bumpy, good luck.

Welfare

During the last month some lady named Nadya Suleman had octuplet's and immediately went on the media circuit. I still cant see why anyone would want or need 8 kids at once, thats a personal decision. For all the critics of the current structure of the welfare system and entitlement programs, congratulations you have cause. It would be one thing if Ms Suleman had these children and had the means to raise them all, but I don't think most people have the means to raise 8 children. A recent report came out through MSNBC as a reaction piece to the interview she had on February 9th, in which she said ""I'm not receiving help from the government. I'm not trying to expect anything from anybody. [I] just wanted to do it on my own. Any resources that someone would really, really want to help us, I will accept, I would embrace.”
Nadya Suleman, the mother of the octuplets born last month, gets $490 a month in food stamps, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday evening. Three of her first children also get federal supplemental security income because they are disabled, the Times reported.

her publicist issued a statement to nbc for the article. (yes the lady who needs welfare has a publicist)
"In Nadya's view, the money that she gets from the food stamp program ... and the resources disabilities payments she gets for her three children are not welfare," he said. "They are part of programs designed to help people with need, and she does not see that as welfare."
When Mrs. Suleman was accused of having all of these kids for money she responded
“That's funny how untrue that is,” Suleman said. “Money? Money is necessary to raise children. But it's — it's paper. It is paper. To me, it is superfluous in contrast to the importance of my kids.”

the article further reports that it will cost millions just to get these children out of the hospital.

NBC chief medical editor Dr. Nancy Snyderman has estimated the cost of delivering the infants and caring for them until they are healthy enough to leave the hospital at $1.5 million to $3 million.

Though I know my view of this entire situation could be considered sexist, misogynistic, or classist. All I can see this situation is screwed up and simple.
Ms. Suleman doesn't see welfare as something for people in need, who else could welfare before Ms. Suleman? The rich, wait don't answer that after the bailout I can see i people can be confused about what welfare is, and is for. If she has 3 children already with disabilities that the government helps her out with, and she still cant afford to feed them. What does she possibly see her self as, not needy?
She cant afford to feed her family every month, she cant afford all the necessary care required for her 3 children at home, yet she can afford in vetro fertilization. BULLSHIT, doesn't that process cost thousands of dollars. How did a single mother afford that if she cant feed their kids, and why did she need them if she already had kids. I thought that process was only for people who have tried to have kids but for whatever reason could not. You don't see an in vetro clinic in the low income areas in Detroit, because poor people don't need 8 kids. I am sure that the million dollar bill from the hospital will be picked up by Ms. Suleman and not the government. If she really wanted a large family why didn't they adopt or get foster children. It sure would have been cheaper for everyone. The children would be taken out of the system, the government will save money by not paying a crappy group home to take care of 8 kids. At a fraction of the cost the government could have supplemented the Sulemans welfare with 50% of their savings from the children being out of group home. On top of that if she really does care so much about family her and her husband could have given 8 children in real need of a home. I
Its not the welfare system that pisses me off its the Ms. Sulemans blatant disregard or respect for the system. Not only do they abuse the system, they didn't even acknowledge the governments assistance. Damn most people are on welfare, its just not for poor people. Its for people in NEED
Welfare is financial assistance paid to people by governments. Some welfare is general, while specific and can only be invoked under certain circumstances, such as a scholarship.

Unions, Corporations, Government, Government, Government

Last time someone said "Uncle Sam may have more say in (Private Buisness) operations."[Buisness Week]
It was in 2001 they said this and in the present that company is still unprofitable spending Tax payer money. American Airlines; the benefit of years of socialized loses. How do they get off charging luggage fees?

GM to close stamping plant near Grand Rapids[AP, CapeCodTimes.com]
Auto Unions don't mean anything if this is really happening. Didn't they just sign a new labor agreement in 2007?

2005 - GM pays $2 billion to Fiat to cancel "put" option under its deal and buy its way out of the alliance.
2007 - GM signs a landmark four-year agreement with the UAW, which includes shifting of GM's retiree health care liabilities to an independent trust.
June 2008 - GM Chief Executive Rick Wagoner announces GM is reviewing Hummer and considering all options, including selling the brand.
July 2008 - GM announces plans to cut costs by $10 billion and raise $5 billion through borrowing and asset sales.
October 2008 - GM holds talks with Chrysler about a deal to combine the two American automakers, according to sources familiar with the situation. GM declines to comment.

Sex, STD, & Client #9

1 in 4!
I don't think current sex education techniques are working, either that or people just magically develop STD's. A CDC report released last weeks stated that 1 in 4 girls have an STD. ABC.com reports
At least one in four teenage girls nationwide has a sexually transmitted disease, or more than 3 million teens, according to the first study of its kind in this age group.A virus that causes cervical cancer is by far the most common sexually transmitted infection in teen girls aged 14 to 19...About half of the girls acknowledged ever having sex; among them, the rate was 40 percent. While some teens define sex as only intercourse, other types of intimate behavior including oral sex can spread some infections. For many, the numbers likely seem "overwhelming because you're talking about nearly half of the sexually experienced teens at any one time having evidence of an STD," said Dr. Margaret Blythe, an adolescent medicine specialist at Indiana University School of Medicine and head of the American Academy of Pediatrics' committee on adolescence. But the study highlights what many doctors who treat teens see every day, Blythe said. Dr. John Douglas, director of the CDC's division of STD prevention, said the results are the first to examine the combined national prevalence of common sexually transmitted diseases among adolescent girls. He said the data, from 2003-04, likely reflect current rates of infection

Where the hell is the government intervention, this is destroying an entire generation. Oh yeah, this current government doesn't care about people, only about halliburton. On another note, I wonder how is the conversation between people on those wonderful valtrex commercials.
Person without Herpes: So baby this is the night
Herpes Person: I dont think its the right time
PWH: What do you mean
HP: I just dont want to get hurt again

PWH: (RUns away like the wind)
HP: I know you didnt love me, you were just going to use me
PWH: NO you have HERPES, have you seen that shit. Woops dumb question. Of course you have, but I dont plan to get a closer look dirty ho.

Boys are assholes. My crotch itches. Time for a valtrex (cries)
I knew other people had these same opinions, You Tube is great. Here is another video for your enjoyment.

Spitzer, Prostitutes, Strippers & Rockets

Spitzer & Strippers
I refuse to acknowledge the man who was governer of New York as of tommorrow by his title first. Apparently Elliot Spitzer, the man who built his political carrer as a leader who will root out all corruption, LOVES him some prostitutes. There goes one of your super delegates who can vote any way they please Hillary.

Gov.Elliot Spitzer, who was considered an example of moral rectitude in the political world, apologized today after a report discovered him to be linked to a prostitution ring. At a televised news conference, before around 100 reporters, Spitzer did not deny the accusations, but refused to give further details on the matter. "Today, I want to briefly address a private matter," he said. "I have acted in a way that violates my obligations to my family and that violates my, or any, sense of right and wrong. I apologize first and most importantly to my family. I apologize to the public whom I promised better,” Spitzer said. "I have disappointed and failed to live up to the standard I expected of myself," he added, referring to his well-known determination in eradicating all types of corruption. He said nothing about his political future and did not answer reporters’ questions about whether he would resign. The New York Times was the first to link Spitzer to the prostitution ring on Friday, one day after four people were arrested, as charged of helping run the ring. The Democrat was caught on a federal wiretap while arranging a meeting between himself and a prostitute in the call-girl business at a Washington Hotel. The governor was not charged, and he said he would retreat to his Upper East Side home, to spend some time trying to regain the trust of his family. The 48-year-old Democrat is married and the father of three teenage girls. Republicans immediately asked for his resignation. "He has to step down. No one will stand with him," said Rep. Peter King, a Republican from Long Island, according to the Associated Press. "I never try to take advantage or gloat over a personal tragedy. However, this is different. This is a guy who is so self-righteous, and so unforgiving." If Spitzer resigns, the one who will take his place is Lt.Gov. David Paterson, who will then become New York’s first black governor. Other politicians who were involved in sex scandals are Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana, Connecticut Gov. John Rowland and Sen. Larry Craig of Idaho. As an attorney general, Spitzer investigated several cases that involved prostitution rings. In 2004, he took part in an investigation of an escort service in New York City, which ended with the arrest of 18 people charged of promoting prostitution.(eFluxMedia 2008)

Statement to the press

What such an arrogent statement, you apologize to your family first. WHAT, your family didnt elect you the citizens of New York State did. You should apologize to them first for the embaressment you have caused and the hypocricy of your actions. New York is not better with you, you are now a distraction without leverage. GOOD BYE
Poor lady, you can just see it on her face.

You should be honored that your wife is willing to stand bye you when she put her carrer on the back burner to support your carreer as first attorney general and then Governer.

Drugs & Water a delicious cocktail

"We know we are being exposed to other people's drugs through our drinking water, and that can't be good," Dr. David Carpenter

The over prescription of drugs is not only ridiculous but dumb. We as citizens give these drug companies our economy and we are rewarded with trace elements of drugs in our drinking water. caffeine, sulfamethoxazole, diltiazem, acetaminophen, trimethoprim, cotinine and paraxanthine, gemfibrozil, ibuprofen, sulfamethaxazole and ethinyl estradiol, azithromycin, erythromycin, roxithromycin, tylosin, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin and caffeine. These are a few of the drugs found in water of 24 states(AP 2008), these states include California, Texas(Arlington not Houston or Lubbock :)), New York, New Jersey, Colorado. Matter of a fact, I will just let you see the visual representation brought to you by the good people of Turner Broadcasting.

For all the lucky winners of the pharmaceutical lottery in Arlington, have no rights to find out what is in their water. Silly citizens, thinking you have rights hahahahahahahah.
Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck said he would not name the lone pharmaceutical chemical found in the city’s drinking water....Cluck declined to reveal the name of the drug found after water was treated or the five drugs found in pretreatment for security reasons. He said he did not want to reveal what drugs were or were not being effectively eliminated from Arlington’s drinking water. Dallas Morning News

Its a good thing that the EPA requires testing to protect us. Oh they don't? O well thank god for beer. Maybe the alcohol will destroy the some of the side effects.
