Yep American Airlines Still Suck part 2

On top of the trend started by American Airlines of charging customers for their luggage, and then increasing the cost of said fees.(AA.com) If you where in the group of consumers who purchased their airline tickets before August 14, 2009 then you will be required to pay $15 for the first bag and $25 per subsequent bag. Its not enough these fees are a bullshit charge passed on to the consumer by a crappilly run airline. If your tickets where purchased between August 14, 2009 - January 31, 2010 then you will be required to pay $20 for the first bag and $30 per subsequent bag, but wait!!!! There is more, in preparation for their travel season they have raised their prices again on checked baggage for tickets purchased on or after February 1, 2010 you will be required to pay $25 for the first bag and $35 per subsequent bag. At these pace, you might as well not travel with baggage. Just take your $50 that would be used for the bags to buy shit when you get to your city of choice.

Its no secret that I think American Airline sucks
1. It was in 2001 they said this and in the present that company is still unprofitable spending Tax payer money. American Airlines; the benefit of years of socialized loses. How do they get off charging luggage fees? (TTM.blogspot 10/14/2008)

2.AA Company of the year (TTM.blogspot 4/11/2008)

3.AA blocks the NY consumer Bill of rights (TTM.blogspot 12/19/2007)

4.American Airlines Still Suck (TTM.blogspot 4/10/2008)

NPR reports on February 10, 2010 that the FAA is going to hit American Airlines with a record penalty that can be as much as 20 million, for the defective wiring on their entire fleet that was shut down a year in a half ago. Over safety concerns that this wiring could lead to fires, and of course AA didn't find anything wrong. In fact they had the nerve to say that the passengers where not in any direct danger. My knowledge of vehicles is limited at best, but i don't think a fire should be a risk when 1000's of feet above the surface. With an underpaid pilot flying this vehicle that can just have a random fire, I don't think commercial airlines have a parachute provided. It would simply meant that the passengers would have been fucked if a fire broke out.

Yesterday, The Wall Street Journal said that "the proposed American penalty, government and industry officials said, is likely to top $10 million, and could be as much as $20 million, unless the agency changes course." (NPR 2/10/2010)

Congrats American Airlines for your suckatude. To bad these fines will not truly penalize the airline or protect/compensate the costumers who flew in inadequate jets. Expect by the end of the summer fees being 35 for the first bag and 50 for every other bag. How does this really punish the airline? I could see it as a punishment if the airline had to reimburse their customers who flew on these defective jets in their fleet. To pay some government bureaucracy that doesn't always do a great job in oversight of the industry. At the very least it can be agreed on, that the FAA hasn't done anything to protect consumer rights in the last 3 years. it is obvious why government regulations need to exists, but I can also see why people want to get rid of regulatory agencies.

Awesome story of the week and some that are horrible

Astonishing Tales Of Insanity: The 23-Mile Parachute Jump vs. Rocket Sled (Deadspin) with Gasoline

Questions?
Why in the hell did someone make a spatula with holes in it. There is always leftover food stuck after cooking breakfast.

I have found a new favorite.
Cheesy bacon waffle fries is a gratuitous master piece of North American culture food. Its half of the food pyramid, and its just appetizer.

How can people want to cut food stamps for people who are starving, but where cheering for the taxpayer financed bailout before they realized how many bonuses those "bailed out once thought to big to fail companies" where giving to their executives that screwed these companies up in the first place? Congratulations for scamming the taxpayers out of their hard earned money then convince them the government is trying to set regulations for how much you can earn.
What I Learned at the AIG Meltdown [Wall Street Journal]
There are four key points to bear in mind:

"One, the insurance policyholders at AIG were protected by reserves that each of the insurance companies are required to hold by state regulation
Two, the unregulated use of credit default swaps and other high-risk instruments by AIG Financial Products,...caused AIG to stumble and threatened the financial system.
Three, in September 2008 the Federal Reserve acted to protect the financial system from what it believed to be an imminent risk of catastrophic damage from AIG Financial Products.
Four, in November 2008, when the Fed restructured its AIG financing..the Fed had over $70 billion already at risk with AIG and was appropriately considering the value and operations of AIG's insurance companies....
The essential lesson of AIG, and of the broader crisis, is the need to reform financial regulation. And that reform should learn from state insurance regulation. One major cause of the subprime disaster was that those who originated mortgages and derivatives could sell them and not worry about their risk or capitalization."[Eric Dinallo Wall Street Journal]
And once again, politicians act like their angry, but they know who owns them. NEW York Times

Ron paul "You will guarantee a depression"

"It says that we are in a liquidity crisis, credit crunch. All we need is more credit. The federal reserve has already injected a trillion dollars in credit which has not seemed to help a whole lot. Injecting another 600 700 million dollars wont solve the problem....You will guarantee a depression"

Crappy Parents, Diabetes, & BIMBOS

Crappy Parents Let their Children Die
I think an adequate punishment should be life in prison surrounded by pictures and recording of their child. Though this might not be classified as murder it has to be a couple counts of neglect, manslaughter, and shitty parenting.
"Madeline Neumann died Sunday from a treatable form of diabetes. Her mother, Leilani Neumann, told The Associated Press that she never expected her daughter, whom she called Kara, to die. The family believes in the Bible, and it says healing comes from God, but they are not crazy, religious people, she said...Other family members called 911 to seek emergency help, Leilani Neumann said. "We are remaining strong for our children," she said. "Only our faith in God is giving us strength at this time."...She had probably been ill for about 30 days, suffering symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, excessive thirst, loss of appetite and weakness, he said."(Fox News)

I can only assume since their lives are in GODS hand they will not be seeking the services of a lawyer? I don't think the bible says "do no palliative care for it is against the word" If Mr or Mrs Neumann accidentally cut off a finger, would they pray that God stops the bleeding and reattaches it naturally; or would the go to the doctor. Their actions are negligent and can not defend their actions by their made up fanatical religious convections. If they use a lawyer, then it should automatically throw out the argument of religious freedom.

Crappy parents blaming video games
MISS BIMBO is a game labeled as the destruction of society do to its inherent messages during game play. Parents are in outrage in arguing for government regulation for the website, and punishment for its creators.
"each registered player is given a "Bimbo" to take care of. According to the rules, the goal of the game is to make your "Bimbo" the most sought after character, which includes dressing, dating, dieting and even plastic surgery to enhance her appearance. Parents are understandably up in arms over the game.(CBS 4)"

Maybe I can sympathize with watchdogs who says it sends the wrong message. So do so many other things that people are exposed to on a daily day. What idiot parent lets their children online to a site named Miss Bimbo? The internet age is no longer in its infancy, if a family can afford the $30 bucks a month on internet. A family can afford the $40 watchdog software, to report where their children have been while they were online. The governments job is not to raise your children, that it is your job parents. Just as it is your job to monitor the TV they watch, the music they listen to, and people they talk to. That is the job of a parent, to annoy the hell out of their kids until the know they care, then annoy them some more. If the software is to expensive, I have an ingenious plan to save money and the innocences of your household. UN PLUG THE COMPUTER, just yank that cord out of the wall. A matter of fact cancel your ISP and you will save over $300 a year on top of the energy savings. Isnt their more pressing matters in America than regulating music and video games, what about the economy?
